  • Jacket Length: Long
  • Country/Region of Manufacture: United Kingdom

  • Condition: Unbelievable vintage Savile Row 70's suit in incredible condition given it's age. I've shown a minor issue on the back of the pants where an alteration left a small cut. Should be easily repairable. Beyond that, I can't find anything else wrong with it. Long since forgotten best of class bespoke relic. It's impossible to imagine how much handwork went into making this. Never seen anything like it.

    DETAILS
OK.  This might be the most bewildering piece I've ever sold.  It came to me from a consignor who collects vintage Savile Row.  I have some of his other pieces already up and have already sold many.  I can't find a single piece of information about this maker anywhere online.  I can only assume they were a small batch bespoke clothier that has long since faded into
    anonymity
.  I'd love anyone who stumbles across this listing to fill in details if they are known.  Google doesn't seem to know.  I've sold hundred, maybe thousands of high end suits and sport jackets and I've never been more awestruck by a suit.  Vintage Savile Row bespoke is not my specialty but I've come to understand much about well made suits.  Whomever Sydney Leonard was, he was an expert and painstakingly detailed tailor.  There is so much handwork on this.  It just feels sturdy like it'll last a lifetime.  I know, I'm gushing.  I'll move on the details.  It measures fitting right in the 42 long range.
Be sure and check all the measurements below for details on fit.  Fabric is a heavy flannel wool.  Not sure what the
    ounce
rating would be on this but it's gotta be up there.  This is a cool to cold weather piece.  The color is black with white chalk stripes.  It's a
6 button (6 x 2) double breasted style, fully lined with side vents.  Pants are flat front, beltless (no braces buttons) and adjustable side tabs.  I will add the waistline has elasticity to it in back.  This will aid in the snugness of fit but causes it to bunch a little if not worn with it stretched out.  My measurements of 37" and with it stretched out.  It
naturally fits closer to 35" upstretched. Flat front and unlined with regular hem.  I'm pricing this based on it being an exquisite and seemingly quite rare Savile Row vintage suit.  I know there are collectors out there.  Is this a holy grail item?  Who knows.  I guess we're about to find out.   And yes, I realize I may be crazy.  Both me and my consignor are stubbornly patient and will follow small incremental monthly markdowns until it sells.  It's 44 years old.  What's a few more, or even many, months, right?
